Yesterday I got an email from my closest girlfriend in Edmonton that her Condo Building had a major fire on the 16th floor and they had all been evacuated. This is a large building with many residents. They are all displaced and it’s Grey Cup weekend in Edmonton. She managed to find a place to stay for three nights and her and her significant other will move in with her mother until this is all settled.
I talked to her last night and very early this morning. She said ” No one died, everyone got out, I didn’t even think of my belongings or my artwork ( she is an artist) . She knows it will be a long haul to work everything out but she said she will take it one day at a time.
She & I have been friends for almost 20 years now. Listening to her, I thought, wow, in the face of sudden, unexpected negative change would we all be so gracious?
Lori is a great human being with a wonderful heart ant the right attitude – she is grateful in all circumstance.
I am thankful that everyone got out of that building and that I can still hear my best friend laugh!
Happy Thanksgiving to those of you in United States, and in Canada may we celebrate a little with our neighbors.
What are you thankful for?
Thanks to all of you who commented on The Art of Unwinding! Maui was magic and so was turning 50! It was wonderful to let technology go and nature take it’s place! Snorkeling at the National Park with turtles, wonderful reefs and lots of fish was a highlight that we kept repeating! We had a beautiful ocean view condo that we ended the day with the Sunsets – they were amazing. Maui is quite an untouched spot and the right amount of people for a quiet, relaxing holiday. The people are warm and friendly. We drove the rental car everywhere it could go!
I spent my 50th birthday with my favorite man at the Four Seasons……magical….
We are home and very rested and very happy and very thankful, ready to go again!
There are times in our lives that we need to stop take heart, take stock take a break. This is one of those times. I will be turning 50 on Sunday and we decided sometime to go to Maui for two weeks for my birthday. As a new business it seems like a lot of time to take off, but when we booked it I knew that taking a break, rejuvenating my mind body and soul would enhance my life and my business.
We are leaving the technology behind, the cell phones, computers will be left behind. We will be watching sunrises and sunsets, toasting to this wonderful life, and celebrating a special day and time that deserves to be recogized.
In 50 years the most important thing I’ve learned is that I cannot do it alone, I love people and I need them and I am thankful for the journey that started a different life journey for me when I was17 in Hawaii that changed the course of my life.
I look ahead with smiles and I look behind with smiles. it’s made me who I am. My thanks to everyone that has crossed my path and made a difference!
Aloha!

"For the past 2 years I have been seeking a professional individual to provide data base management and client support including phone calls to current and potential clients. I have struggled to find someone I can count on to do the job with enthusiasm and the high professional standard my team upholds. Building strong relationships in today's fast paced world is a necessity in long term business strategies. Debbie Hartz from Data Girl "wowed" me with her confidence and professional approach to my business. From the moment I met her, I knew she was the perfect fit. I am extremely pleased with the way Debbie handles my clients as though they were her own. A number of my clients have commented on her friendly approach, her professionalism and her ability to carry a conversation and not just "sell" them. She invites them in! Debbie cares and it shows. My seminars are well attended, my clients are pleased and my overall sales are up due to the efforts of phone calls and relationship building by Debbie. Debbie thanks for increasing the quality in my business and all you continue to do for us."
