• Employed as financial accountant for large group of companies in the UK for 13 years.  Group consisted of 13 companies with combined revenues of approx $40million in the following industries – retail, newspaper publication, lithographic printing and property management.   Involved in new business aquisitions for the group and the integration of any new business acquisition into the main business.
• Moved from this to become a partner in a small accounting firm.  Looked after a portfolio of 200+ clients involved in a variety of small and medium sized businesses.  Work included audit, taxation and management consultancy.  I was with the firm for 10 years.
• Moved to Canada in 2004 with my family and set up own web based business with Douglas, my husband, selling recreational sports equipment and giant games.
• Sold business in 2007 and joined Scotiabank working in small business banking and lending.
• Decided to return to business consulting, bookkeeping and accounting and started this business in February 2010.

• Current association is with Pemberton Holmes as a professional residential Realtor.
• Pemberton Holmes Ltd is one of the oldest family owned companies on the Island being established in 1887.

My start in real estate happened early in life while working on a golf course in Saskatoon. There wasn’t much to do on a golf course in Saskatchewan in winter, so we all got laid off. While I was working and could qualify for a mortgage, I would buy a beater house and work on it all winter while the other guys played shinny and went skiing.

The next summer I would sell it and buy another project. Because of the skills I had learned I quit the golf course and started private contracting, the heavy physical work began to take its toll* and I started thinking that the people who were selling my real estate were making a pretty decent dollar, so I though I would give it a try.that was 25 years ago, the last 20 of those years here in Victoria.

My initial intention was to help first time buyers avoid some of the mistakes that I had made early on, and to this day the bulk of my business is still representing buyers, most of who have been referred by others that have been pleased by the level of service that they have received.

And it’s a good thing I do get a lot of referrals because there is not a lot of repeat business as most of those buyers are still in the same properties they originally bought! Some of them for over 20 years now.

I guess what I should do now is start specializing in retirement homes.you’ve heard the phrase ‘starter or retirement’.I somehow missed the middle.

* I do however still enjoy working on old projects, which is why I own and care for an old wooden boat and collector vehicles.

Jackie Mignault

Has held a diversity of positions in the provincial and municipal public sectors, and in the private sector in the Information Technology. Jackie is currently a Senior Policy Advisor in the Ministry of Finance, and previously was a senior governance/business auditor in the Ministry of Finance.

Jackie’s background includes:

• developing governance frameworks for large and small entities
• strategic and targeted communications
• competitive market analysis
• business analysis

She also runs her own small consulting services in competitive market analysis, and balanced landscape design.

Jackie’s hobbies include home renovation, landscaping, and tracking trends in real estate;
Jackie’s passion – small business enablement.

Kevin Paetz

Kevin Paetz is the President of Dial-A-Geek Consulting Inc. a B.C based technology firm. Prior to his current role, he has an extensive operational background in banking and consumer finance, working in senior positions for multinational financial corporations in Canada, the U.S. and the UK.  Over the last 26 years, he has held leadership roles with Dollar Financial Group as their VP Acquisitions, Alberta Treasury Branches as their VP Retail Banking and  VP – General Manager of Operations for HSBC Finance Canada.
